A sour late December gave way to a sweet early
January, but the rest of 2011 figures to be unlike any
year in Ohio State football history.
Much of the conversation leading to the Sugar
Bowl centered on the suspension of five players for
the beginning of the 2011 season, and one of the
suspended players acknowledged that conversation
would not end after the Buckeyes’ 31-26 defeat of
Arkansas.
“I don’t think I’ll ever forget this,” said defensive
end Solomon Thomas, whose interception clinched
the win for the Buckeyes in the final minute.
“This
will stick with me for life.
As far as the negative
bashing, people are always going to have their opinions, but I think this will be in Ohio State history.
“I think it plays into the win.
You have to have
the controversy with the win.
I think it will just be
there.
When people mention the Sugar Bowl win,
they’ll mention the guys suspended.
It’s hand in
hand.
”
