Urban Meyer’s first recruiting class at Ohio State turned out to be a pretty good one. Ohio State knew it was getting a proven winner when it hired a two-time BCS national champion who had also reeled off an undefeated season at Utah, but it was unknown how the program’s class of 2012 would shake out with Meyer’s hiring announced late the previous November. Meyer inherited a group of players who had committed to interim coach Luke Fickell (or, in some of the earlier cases, Jim Tressel) and quickly went to work trying to add big names and top talent on the fly. The class that was assembled like an island of misfit toys thanks to two coaching changes predictably had its share of trying moments. Only 12 of the 25 signees still have a chance to finish their careers in good standing and of their own accord.
