Rosy Vanderveer Art Assignment At 9 metres length, 0.72 metres width and 1.22 metres in height, The Last Supper, by Ken and Julia Yonetani, was started and finished in 2014. It is a long banquet table sculpted entirely from one tonne of Murray River salt. Various foods e.g. fruit and bread, along with cutlery and candles are placed the whole length of the table. The sculpture was made out of various salts from western New South Wales, which was then pored into moulds and cured to create the objects. Over 100 test moulds were tried until the final result was created. The reason it was so hard to get the right technique to make this sculpture is because salt does not bind with anything and is very soluble with water. The artwork is a realistic piece in regards to the shape of the objects, although the colour and texture are not. The sculpture has many carvings of food that are placed on the table from things as simple as fish, fruit and bread to oysters and cupcakes. The large quantities
