“Is Frankfort’s greatest asset her beautiful streets and well kept lawns? Is it the architectural beauty or the comfort of her homes? Is it the magnificent Capitol building to which, not we alone, but every Kentuckian points with pride? Is it her factories and commerce? Or is her richest asset the childhood of the town? If this assertion is true, then must give our boys and girls the best that we have. The best must come thru our public schools, in training the mind, building character, and developing citizenship— it can reach the masses in no other way.” H.C. McKee Superintendent Frankfort City Schools June, 1910
