Harlaw Academy school improvement planning: draft note to promoted staff (December 2014) • The local authority processes for school improvement should now follow a similar pattern year on year. • As a result we can develop a standard approach to; school improvement planning, quality assurance and self evaluation. • This approach can be streamlined, systematic, and embedded in day to day practice. It should be less onerous over time and as a result it should reduce workload/bureaucracy. • The main activities within the school improvement process are: Dates Activity February/March Summary of audit activity April/May School to produce ‘high level audit’ June/July School improvement plan to be produced August/September Standards and quality report October/November ‘Keeping in touch’ visits • The activities have to focus on all of the QIs over a 3 year cycle. But on an annual basis we need to report on the 6 core QIs from Journey to Excellence part 3 – How good is our school. These are: QI
