Trapping a soccer ball
Trapping a soccer ball is one of the very first things you should learn when you start to play soccer.
Trapping with the feet is soccerâÂÂs most used skill so you should take time to master it. When
you say trap, it means you stop the momentum of the ball.
And just like all the other traps in soccer, like the chest and thigh traps, the very idea that you
should understand is that trapping means cushioning the ball instead of striking it.
There are a lot of ways that you can trap a soccer ball with your foot. High balls can be trapped by
cushioning it using the instep (shoelace part of the foot). As the ball is about to hit the ground, meet
the ball with your instep and just as your foot makes contact with the ball, withdraw your foot to
stop or slow down its speed. article here
