According to
Differentiated Instruction
theorist, Carol A Tomlinson
(2001), many educators define
a good education as one that
“helps students maximize their
capacity as learners.” In order
to do this, teachers must
continuously assess student
readiness, interests, and
preferred ways of learning in all
topic areas.Then, effective
teachers can differentiate: the
content of what individuals
are learning; the process of
how they are learning it; the
product or way of
demonstrating that learning has
happened; and the
environment in which
learning happens.
In a differentiated classroom, children’s differences
are important elements that help build the
foundation for teaching and learning.
