The City of Arlington and NBA
Cares have teamed up to make a
difference off the court, in honor of
the NBA All-Star Game at Cowboys
Stadium.
The Arlington Parks and Recreation Department has partnered
with the National Basketball Association on a project that’s expected
to plant 2,010 trees in the 100 days
leading up to the Feb.
14, 2010 AllStar Game.
The department has already
planted more than 100 trees, said
city forester Matt Churches.
“We decided to do it as a promotion,” he said.
“We approached the
NBA and they liked the idea.
It’s
a way for the NBA to make more
people aware of the All-Star Game,
and at the same time, beautify the
community.
