As UTA tightens its belt amid
campus-wide budget cuts, faculty and staff merit pool has been
adjusted to save the university
money.
The 2 percent merit pool will
be awarded based on performance in a one-time bonus.
“The difference this year is that
everybody who receives a merit
payment will be paid in a lump
sum later this fall and it will not
become a part of the base salary,”
President James Spaniolo said.
“It
will just be a merit payment.
”
Spaniolo said the university is
committed to rewarding exemplary faculty, but must be “prudent” in light of the uncertainty
surrounding the upcoming legislative session.
