With four schools reportedly considering leaving the Western Athletic
Conference, UTA athletics director
Jim Baker is currently at the WAC
annual meetings in Phoenix, Ariz.
, discussing the fate of the conference with
other athletics directors.
The UTA Intercollegiate Athletics Department and president’s office
didn’t release a statement regarding
the university’s stance on conference
realignment.
Baker did not respond to a statement request.
UTA is set to join the Western Athletic Conference on July 1, but reports
this weekend said four and possibly
five schools in the WAC will leave for
other conferences in 2013.
After the
2012-2013 athletic year, UTA’s future
with the WAC is now unclear.
