When she stepped off the plane, she felt a rush of adrenaline and excitement.
She was
7,000 miles from home.
The wheels hit the ground and she couldn’t wait to experience the land
of the free and the home of the brave.
Lottie Ou, an always-smiling international graduate
student at Auburn University, masters the art of discovering the simple joys in life from sea to
shining sea.
At 21 years old, Lottie experienced her first traditional Christmas in Hawaii.
She
celebrated with a new friend’s family and learned the customs of the holiday season in America.
For her, it was a foreign but memorable experience.
“We sang songs and ate, and I got a gift
from every family member.
I was not expecting that,” Ou said.
The move from China to America, just a year ago, resulted in a world of adventure for
Ou.
“Auburn brought me life,” Ou said.
