Abstract: We assessed the cardiorespiratory responses and exercise tolerance during 12 week training
(intermittent vs.
continuous) in obese children.
Twenty nine obese adolescent were randomly allocated into
either the IT or CT group.
The CT group performed a 30 to 40 minute continuous exercises a 60% to 70 % of
vVO2max.
IT group was instructed to run for 2 min interspersed with recovery periods of one minute.
The
exercise intensity was 80% of the vVO2max increased by 5% every four weeks.
