Today I read a review of the book the Unwritten Rules by John Beeson (6 skills you need to get
promoted to the executive level).
Very interesting to read the theory behind these practices.
What the book really gives value are the examples of people who didn’t get a promotion.
The
biggest problem was that they were clueless why they weren’t being promoted and nobody told
them exactly.
The quality of the work is not the only aspect of what influences the outcome.
It’s also how it is
perceived by others.
And how do you know how it is perceived.

? Honest feedback is scarce.
If
you have a good developed antenna for other peoples emotions you might be able to some
degree to look behind the first facade.
But even than, you might miss things.
The only thing that
is really valuable is honest feedback.
It needs both courage and sensitivity to know when and
who to ask.
You have to step out of your comfort zone.
