What is the Purpose of a Grease Trap
A lot of people have heard the words grease trap, but do not have the slightest idea what it is.
For those of
you who are not in the know and for those of you who are not in the plumbing business, a grease trap is
an inceptor which helps remove grease, oil and fat which can accumulate and prevent water from flowing
freely in your sewers.
This will cause water overflow and can result to a lot of damage.
You will end
spending a lot of money in repairs if your grease trap is not functioning properly.
How do large grease traps outside of the house work? A standard inceptor or grease trap is a large vault
located underground.
Most grease traps come with two compartments which are separated by baffled
which are accessed by two manhole lids.
Wastewater from the kitchen enters the grease trap.
Waste,
grease and other solids are separated and the wastewater then goes to the city’s sewers.
For grease traps to
work, they should have a full liquid level
