We all see our dogs differently, big or small ? white, liver and white, black and white etc, Do we
want to produce a steady away plodder plodder, a house pet or a super fast hunter that flys about,
tail wagging like mad.
What we all want is a dog that looks nice and does the job we ask of it.
We also hope those
qualities are passed on when using a Springer stud dog.
FTCH s (Field Trial Champions) have proven their worth in competition, they have had to win a
novice trial, two open trials and have been tested in water to obtain the title.
In order to reach this
level a dog has to be scrutinised by several independent judges during this time they may tot up
several Field Trial awards, certificates of merit, guns choice etc.
So don t just be blinded by the
addition of a Field Trial Champion status.
Some dogs achieve this as 2 year old with a
professional trainer whereas some people will keep entering their one and only dog for several
