eorge Carter might be the
oldest living caddie in
Houston.
Skinny, soft-spoken and
always topped with his trademark
bucket hat, Carter will celebrate
his 76th birthday in August.
With
a mostly toothless smile and
warm, friendly demeanor, he’s
been a pleasant fixture at
Champions Golf Club for the past

Starting at Pine
Forest Country Club in the late
1940s, Carter has been caddying
for almost 60 years.

times in one sitting if you let
him—involves the first time he
met Jackie Burke and Jimmy
Demaret.
