AVON — Offense was a problem
early on in last week’s opener against
Mooresville for the Avon softball
team.
The Orioles eventually won, but
had to score several late inning runs to
pull out a victory.
That wasn’t a problem Tuesday night at home against
Cathedral.
The Orioles pounded out 12 hits
and took advantage of three walks,
three errors, and two hit batsmen in a
12-2 victory over the Fighting Irish
that ended after six innings due to the
10 run rule.
Avon scored five runs in
the first inning and never looked back.
“It made a big difference and we
talked about before the game, so it is
nice to talk about something before
the game then have it happen,” said
Avon coach Jenny Shayotovich.
“It
took us awhile to get our bats going in
that first game but we rallied and won.
Tonight we wanted to start stronger
and attack at the very first pitch.

Breanne Lohart didn’t have to do
much attacking at the first pitch as it
attacked her.
