Very few villages in the remote districts of Madhya Pradesh have electricity, so after dark, people depend entirely on kerosene lamps. But these lamps pollute their homes, and kerosene is expensive. And, as Ramlakhan, who lives in the village of Sironi, says: “Snake bites and scorpion stings were as frequent as a couple of incidents a week before the lights.”
Now, thanks to renewable solar energy, everything is cleaner and safer.
