Within the past 30 years the subject of female circumcision has come to the forefront of
global affairs.
The opinions against the practice come from cultures that cannot understand the
cultural and religious importance of restricting the sexual pleasure of women but can understand
the health risks of such a surgery.
The standpoint on behalf of female circumcision may understand
the health risks for the surgery but prioritize the cultural and ideological benefits over the
consequences of the surgery.
The same type of argument has been fought for centuries.
These
arguments arise in history when a minority culture’s tradition is thought immoral or wrong by the
