Effective evangelism is done by those who wait on the Lord, said Dr.
Tony Campolo to an audience of 1,200 United
Methodists on Nov.
14.
“Lay people who are burned out because they don’t wait on the Lord—because they don’t do
centering prayer—will struggle.
We must model Scripture, which says, ‘they shall walk and not faint.
’” The professor
emeritus at Eastern University served as keynote speaker for the event which challenged lay and clergy to “rethink
evangelism.
” The day-long conference was held at the Alexandria Riverfront Center.
