WĀY is a contemporary cultural institution that reimagines traditional Indonesian wayang through a new format of engagement.
The project addresses both local and international audiences, offering a contemporary way to connect with cultural heritage. Through short theatrical episodes, festivals and installations, WĀY creates an accessible entry point into the tradition without requiring prior knowledge or cultural context.
By shifting wayang from the realm of knowledge to the realm of experience, the institution preserves its cultural foundations while making them relevant and engaging for contemporary audiences.
