A significant number of independent case
management professionals are now also owners
of group living environments that cater to the
affluent medically fragile elderly and those with
brain and spinal cord injuries from catastrophic
auto collisions.
While some have complained that
this trend crosses ethical lines – even for the case
manager who does not provide care to those on
his/her caseload – this new group of owners
shoots back with what some are calling sound
arguments.
Generally case managers who are quality of life focused human services professionals, i.
e.
nurses,
social workers and therapists, cite the massive ownership of residential care facilities by people
without a human services background or credential.
