Hammer Film Production is a British film production company which is best known for gothic horror films such as Dracula and The Curse of Frankenstein. This means that fans would automatically expect a British gothic ghost story which in this film, is exactly what they got. The use of a tea set can stereotypically be associated with Britain as well as children which straight away creates sympathy amongst the audience. The music is also light but the piano keys create a creepy-feel. The doll shown in the picture also adds to this creepy-feel as the face of the doll looks sad and the actual doll in general looks disturbing. Due to the size of the child’s fingers the audience know that this child is young which adds to the innocence of the child and adds to the sympathy the audience feel towards the children.
