It’s a Bug’s Life “There is nothing in this world like a well-cooked worm burger,” says Cameron Rios. “It tastes even better than a veggie burger!” To the average person bugs are repulsive to look at, much less eat. But for recent Auburn University graduate Cameron Rios, he is determined for people to implement insects into their everyday diets. Last summer, he became enthralled with the idea of consuming bugs after the United Nations made an official statement that encouraged people to eat insects, especially countries with limited food supplies. He had always been interested in sustainability, but he became obsessed with this particular idea and began a yearlong expedition researching entomology. “Surprisingly, insects are one of the healthiest foods you can eat, “says Rios. “Critters like crickets, mealworms and wax worms are jam-packed with protein, fiber and healthy fats.
