From the work I have produced in the research section of the coursework. My magazine will be aimed at both genders with a slight focus on women since they are on average larger consumers of magazines. My target audience will by based around the age group of 16-25. My product will be aimed at those who enjoy mainstream hip hop and R&B as well as pop music because this was the most popular genre among my target audience. Within this genre of music both males and females are often featured on the cover however more often than not it will be a female. Women on the magazines are normally presented in a very sexual way. There costumes are normally quite revealing which conforms to the idea of the male gaze theory as it would attract a heterosexual male audience. The costume could also be used to empower women to dress in a way that makes them feel as confident as the woman is who is being presented on the magazine.
