Currently, 70% of global energy use has no energy performance requirements, essential in the fight against global warming. In order to meet the objectives of the Paris Agreement, efforts still need to be made in spite of existing international actions; especially from emerging and developing countries that have achieved the biggest gains in terms of energy intensity, ahead of developed countries.
In the EU, the 'energy winter package'
published by the European Commission at the end of 2016 highlights a 30% improvement binding target for energy efficiency by 2030.
In France, the energy transition for green growth Act aims to reduce energy consumption by 20% between 2012 and 2030, and by 50% by 2050.
