Brownfield City Councilman Leon Pope has filed to run for Mayor, which is being vacated by Tom Hesse after two terms, the local limit. Councilwoman Mary Valdonado also has filed for reelection to her seat on the city’s governing body. Two candidates have entered the race for the Brownfield Independent School District Board of Trustees. Incumbent Will Hawkins filed for a full term in an At Large seat on the board. Hawkins is a former Brownfield High School principal and currently works for the Hobbs (New Mexico) School District. Political newcomer Catarino (Cat) Gonzales also has filed for an At Large pos
