One item on the agenda was the discussion and review of the right of way access ordinance and application guidelines as a result of the passage of new state legislation that will become effective on September 1 of this year. This ordinance states that wireless infrastructure providers and wireless service providers have access to public right of ways to locate their facilities. This would allow wireless network companies to place network nodes in the public right-of-way (ROW) and would provide rules, regulations, and fee structures to reimburse cities for use of the ROW.
