OBJECTIVES OF THE CLASS RULES 1.1 The International J/22 is a one-design class created to fulfill the diverse needs of recreational sailors such as cruising, one-design racing, day sailing and handicap racing. These rules are intended to preserve important design characteristics: ease of handling, low cost of ownership, safety and comfort. 1.2 BASIC RULE. Except where variations are specifically permitted, yachts of this class shall be alike in hull, deck, keel, rudder and spar construction, weight and weight distribution, sail plan, and equipment. 1.3 All yachts shall comply with official PLANS A, B, C & D, building specifications and the International J/22 Class Rules, and conform to all J/22 Class Measurement Procedures.
