Harlaw Academy newsletter – October 2015 Our current S6 pupils were the first group to embark on Curriculum for Excellence (CfE). It has been a really important journey for them, for their families and for the teachers who have had to introduce new ideas and different ways of working. One of the main ideas of CfE was to help young people to develop 4 capacities: successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens. There are numerous examples of where this is evident in our current S6 and I am very optimistic that they will do really well not only this session but also in their lives beyond school. I am also very confident that our staff will continue to take forward innovative ideas to ensure learning remains fresh and relevant as each new group of youngsters come through the system. In the first term we had some really big successes and I will mention some of these in this newsletter. I will also take the opportunity to outline some of the wider
