ST. MARYS — Mardja Gray’s
bed and breakfast inn, Goodbread House, depends on tourists
visiting Cumberland Island National Seashore.
It’s important for her guests to
have the best experience possible,
which is why Gray said she offers
to take care of reservations for
ferry trips and motorized tours
on the island.
Recently, though, that’s been
a problem. Gray is getting complaints from some of her guests
who are unable to reserve a seat
aboard a van for the six-hour
Lands and Legacies tour.
The van trip takes guests to
sites too far for most people to
walk in a day such as Plum Orchard mansion, the Settlement,
the Cumberland Island Wharf
and the First African Baptist
Church, where John Kennedy Jr.
was married in 1996.
“I have guests I tell about Cumberland Island that would like to
come back because of the Lands
and Legacies tour,” she said.
“The people who have gone love
it and have no complaints.”
