Air, water and rocks are non-living things. Man-made objects are also non-living things, like books and cars. ECOSYSTEM & HABITATS An ecosystem is the combination of a habitat, the community of living things which live there and the interaction between them. There are many different ecosystem: the ocean, the beach, an aquarium, the forest, ... An habitat is the place where living things live. We can classify the habitats into different groups: - Land habitats (desert, tundra, taiga, ...? - Freshwater habitats (ponds, lakes, rivers, ...) - Marine habitats (temperate ocean, tropical ocean) A habitat must provide the community with 3 things: A shelter Food and water A safe place to reproduce Each habitat has specific conditions of temperature, soil and water.
