Pain Management Doctor's Guide to Marathons
As the colder weather begins to set in, we are rounding out a close to the marathon/5K/charity walk
season. If you have been cleared by your pain management doctors to participate in an event, whether
you run to win, interims management to beat your own record, for fun, or just want to check something
off of your bucket list, there are a litany of events to choose from. But whichever you choose, it is
important to prepare your body for the event (or events if you are especially committed), in order to
stay safe and healthy.
Although calmly running through city streets, getting the occasional water in a paper cup doled out by
an onlooker, or running through the occasional garden hose may be the ideal situation for some, there
has been a movement as of late to make distance running a little more... interesting, shall we say.
