832. It has a cross shape, five domes and decoration of
marble and mosaics (very well conservations). It has a
small elevation comparade with the square level. Inside is
decorated with oriental marble, sculptures, mosaics,
columns... It was built with bricks but there are many
mosaics of glass and gold in domes and vaults.
Byzantine build this work to keep the body of San Marcos
(the first bishop of Alexandria) brought from Alexandria. It
was burned in a riot in 975 and rebuilt in the eleventh
century by architects and workers of Constantinople
(capital of the Byzantine Empire). It is located in the Square
of San Marcos.
