Bobastro is an ancient town located in the north
of the province of Málaga (Spain). Inside it, It
was build this church, carved
into the rock and made in the
last of the ninth century or
early tenth century. It's the
only mozharabic church
build in Al-Andalus. It is a
basilica base, with three naves
separated by horseshoe arches,
transept and three apses. It's in
the east, measuring 16.50
meters long by 10.30 meters wide.
Omar Ben Hafsún took refuge in Bobastro in the
later of the ninth century, after
rebel against the emir of
Córdoba. His conversion to
Christianity in 899 explains
the construction of this
church. It was destroyed by Abderraaman III,
when, after resisting as an
independent territory for
over than 50 years attempts
Cordoba, it was conquered
on the 19 of January 928.
