Leadership and Human Relations Plan
Conceptual Definition of Leadership:
Leadership is a process by which a person influences others to accomplish an
objective and directs the organization in a way that makes it more cohesive and
coherent. Program directors and managers can use this resource to inspire staff to
higher levels of teamwork (Clark, 2005).
My personal definition of a leader is one that inspires those around him or her to
accomplish the goals and expectations set forth by an organization and to bring out the
best in those assigned with a certain task or agenda. I also feel that good leaders are
made and those who become good leaders do so from pursuing leadership training and
guidance from mentors all around them. “Leadership is the process of persuasion or
example by which an individual induces a group to pursue objectives” (Gardner, 1990,
1).
