Shaunia Scales AHE 523 Winter 2013 Project Based Learning and the Digital Portfolio The concept of project based learning in one that focuses on using real life application, or projects, in order to learn any sort of material. Learners are given a project with some real life application, and then they are expected to research, explore, ask questions, reflect, create, and share. The idea of using projects for learning is not a new one, but the idea that whole classes should be based on projects is a new innovative way to enrich learning. One example of this is a biology class, which is learning about insects. The class could listen to a lecture or watch a movie, and then take a test, which would be the more traditional classroom. With project based learning this class would be broken into smaller groups and given a project, like create a website about an insect of your choice.
