buddy who can support them during these early weeks
and we keep them firmly based in their class groups,
ensuring that they are totally immersed in the life of the
class and can develop relationships with their peers.
So much of our teaching can draw upon the children’s
own experience, culture and early language and the real
life contexts that are familiar to them.
For example, in
our eco-lessons, the children’s first hand knowledge of
the importance of water and energy and the impact of
this on growing fruit and vegetables in their homeland
brings learning to life for all of us.
We are lucky to have
such a diverse range of experiences within our school
and try to ensure that we take every opportunity to
exploit this wonderful resource.
