This was our fourth birding trip to the Extremadura where we have stayed in an
excellent family-run hotel just outside Trujillo.
Early morning on the Belen Plain ! despite being late spring we were still treated to prolonged views of
Great Bustards "a flock of 12 mainly male birds#.
Early morning was also the time to see Little Bustards
with many small flocks flying around & several calling from the long grass.
Crested Larks are everywhere; almost every
fence post seems to have one, those that don$t
usually have a Corn Bunting or less
frequently a Spanish Sparrow or Calandra
Lark.
