The acknowledgment of the complexities of learning brought about
by insides on language, applied linguistic and cognitive psychology
have lead to current communicative approaches on English
teaching/learning that have as a main goal the development of the
skills needed to become a good user of English.
These approaches
allow the use of translation and have more moderated views about it
that the strong forms of communicative approaches in the 70’s and
80’s for whom translation impeded the development of
communicative skills.
On the contrary, today´s current
communicative approaches see translation as a valid L2 learning
tool from which learners and teache
