Brassempouy.
Inside,discoverprehistoricartthroughtheemblematicfigurine: la
Dame de Brassempouy - "The Lady in the Hood" or "Lady of
Brassempouy"
Sculpted 25,000 years ago in ivory from a mammoth s tusk, this
is the first known human face.
Surrounding the main exhibit,
this Venus of Europe , is an equally remarkable collection of
objects (tools, bones, engravings, pieces of jewellery) from the
excavations at the Grottes du Pape.
Your voyage into prehistoric times proceeds to the site of the
Jardin de la Dame, a park developed to reproduce the vegetation
representing different climatic periods.
