Build a Foxhole Radio
During World War II, GIs in the field built really amazing simple radios to listen
too.
These were made with materials that they could get their hands on and were
small enough to carry around in a big pocket.
You can modify this design if you
want to set it up so that it’s tuneable too!
This project is similar to a simple crystal radio but crystals were hard to get ahold
of for the soldiers and so they made do.

My
Grandpa Charlie made his own radios in the 30s and during the war as well.
In
fact, in a recent email, he mentioned that they were encouraged to make radios and
“learn by doing.
” Radios were the hottest technology of the time and after the
exhilaration of getting this radio work, I can understand!
